JRTI’s HVAC/R (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Refrigeration)
Do you have what it takes to become a HVAC/R technician? Our HVAC/R program will get you trained in this very high-in-demand career. Students that complete the two-year program can take the EPA 608 Universal Certification Exam. Students are eligible for OSHA 10 training.
What You Will Do in the Class
Learn the theory of how the refrigeration cycle works. Wire electrical boards. Install a heat pump and connect line set, wiring, and ductwork. Use a pressure temperature chart.
Skills You Will Learn
Electrical troubleshooting, soldering, brazing, fabricating ductwork, proper refrigerant recovery, charging and evacuation techniques, customer relations and soft skills
Tools You Will Use
Hand tools, air-acetylene, oxyacetylene, vacuum pump, recovery machine, scales, refrigerant gauge manifold, Electrical multimeter, sheet metal shear and brake.

Our Happy Students
This class was very informational and we were taught by a great teacher. I feel very prepared to start working. My only complaint is we didn’t have enough class hours. The class is only Monday-Thursday but coming to school on Fridays would definitely be more helpful for us learning.
Applications for our high school programs are only open for a short term, usually from September through December. Please talk to your guidance counselor about the possibility of applying if the application period has already closed.
